Hero society in My Hero Academia is a system where heroes are licensed professionals who are expected to handle most of the world's problems, from petty crime to large-scale threats. This society is structured, with heroes being ranked, regulated by organizations like the Hero Public Safety Commission, and even treated as celebrities and a commodity through merchandise and media. However, the system is presented as deeply flawed, creating a dependency on heroes that leads to public complacency and a culture that commodifies heroism and puts immense pressure on heroes to be flawless.   Structure and function * Licensed heroes: Individuals with unique abilities called "Quirks" become professional heroes after passing exams and receiving a provisional hero license from the Hero Public Safety Commission.

 * Hero agencies: Heroes work in agencies, which can be seen as a form of trade union for superheroes.

 * Hero Public Safety Commission: This government-affiliated organization oversees licensed heroes, manages international cooperation, and has the authority to conduct its own investigations.

 * World Heroes Association: An international organization that manages hero-related operations across the globe.

 * Education: Heroism is an institutionalized part of the education system, with specialized schools like U.A. High School training future heroes.

Societal and cultural aspects * Hero worship: The public is conditioned to rely on heroes for problem-solving and often idolizes them, despite their flaws.

 * Commodification: Heroism has become a brand. Heroes are capitalized on through merchandise, media, and endorsements, and their popularity can be a factor in their ranking.

 * Public complacency: The public's expectation that heroes will solve all problems discourages them from engaging with societal issues themselves.

 * Commercialization: The system is driven by the economy, with hero schools and the hero industry itself forming a marketplace.

Underlying flaws * Pressure and expectation: The system places immense pressure on heroes to be publicly perfect, leading to internal struggles and a sense of failure when they inevitably fall short.

 * Systemic inequality: The emphasis on licensed heroes can lead to discrimination against those without Quirks and can fail to address the root causes of villainy.

 * Lack of transparency: Organizations like the Hero Public Safety Commission may use unethical or illegal tactics, such as ordering assassinations, to maintain a positive public image.

 * Popularity contest: Hero rankings are heavily influenced by public opinion and popularity, rather than solely by a hero's effectiveness or morality.

 * Neglect of systemic issues: Hero society is built to fix problems as they arise, rather than addressing the underlying societal issues that create them in the first place.
